The Story
Heinrich Neuy, who died in March 2003, was one of the last Bauhaus artists and art student of Wassily Kandinsky.
In 1992 he, together with Ludger Teriete, had the idea of commemorating his former teacher and model Wassily Kandinsky. At the age of 83 the artist created this range of 24 different motives entitled “Hommage à Kandinsky”. 300 pieces of each motif were personally signed by the artist himself. Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity from the artist.
The main subjects are the four seasons. Fixed on a polished block of Corian four bottles with numbered and signed labels symbolize spring, summer, autumn and winter.
If the labels are unique, so is the content of the bottles. The brandy – Notar ´64 – was produced only in the year 1964. Before bottling it aged in oak barrels for more than 25 years.
Keeping to the tradition of Bauhaus-style the artist developed over many years a symbiosis between painting and the art of distilling entitled which was finished shortly before his own death.
